ERSpN Sports Beat
It was a beautifully brisk evening at the Ballpark in Edmond. It was also destined to be a great night for the Rangers. Everything seemed to be going their way in the top half of the 1st inning. Weeks of long hard work culminated tonight as the Rangers pushed 6 runs across the plate in the 1st. That was just the boost their defense needed to come alive. They supported their offense by allowing only 2 runs in the bottom of the 1st before Fowler struckout the side. Cherry did an unbelievable job behind the plate as he acted like the Great Wall of China. Very little was geting by tonight. No one got anything cheap on the base paths. He made them earn everything.
Offensively, the 2nd inning would prove to be just as successful as the Rangers scored six more runs. The entire lineup looked great at the plate. Top to bottom, all gave quality at bats. After a double play early in the bottom of the 2nd, it looked like another quick half inning. But, as has been the case many times in the past, a two-out rally kept the Bulls in the hunt. The Rangers would finally get out of the 2nd inning with a 12-8 lead.
Adkins was primed and ready to come in and close out the game, but his services would not be needed this time. The juggernaut that appeared tonight in the form of the Ranger bats would rear its head once more in the top of the 3rd inning. 3 quick runs in the top of the 3rd would put the game out of reach for the Bulls and the game was called by the umpires.
It was a great night for the boys. It was so nice to see all of the hard work pay off. Nice game Rangers. Congratulations on the first win of the Fall season. No games next week. Tune in on October 13th to get the updates from the double header that will close the season for the Rangers. 'Til then, this is Josh Fowler for the Edmond Rangers Sporting News signing off.
Good night!

ERSpN Sports Beat
Well, we had some technical difficulties after the games Monday night. We had the broadcast all cut and ready to run, but something happened during the production process and all was lost.
We pick up the season tonight, however, as we follow the Edmond Rangers along their fateful journey through the Edmond All Sports fall league ranks. It has been a long hard fought season to this point and these fine young men keep playing their hearts out.
As the game started tonight it looked as if this might be their night. Their first chance to jump on the opponent and run relentlessly leaving the mighty OK Thunder in their dusty trail. At first glance, I thought Coach Fowler and Coach Adkins had put Whitey Ford, Orel Hershiser, or Andy Pettite (you choose depending on your generation) out there on the mound. However, on closer inspection, it was Cady #10 single handedly keeping the Rangers within striking distance. He struck out 4 -- yes that is right 4 -- all in the first inning as 2 reached on dropped third strikes. The team fought hard, but had trouble putting plays together in the top of the first. Cady finally retired the side after allowing 5 runs on 2 strikeouts and a comebacker to the pitcher.
The second inning would be equally as eventful for the young Cady as the first pitch of the inning was a single to center field. After a steal to second base, Cady caught the Thunder in a hit and run. A line drive right back up the middle. It would have been a great call had it not been for the quick reflexes of the young pitcher. He snagged the line drive -- mostly out of self defense -- and doubled up the runner at second base. The next batter up also came right back up the middle and was retired 1-4-3 (that is off the pitcher's glove to the second baseman and on to first for the out for those who don't yet understand the position lingo...).
Caldwell and Bogle combined in the third inning for valiant efforts in the third. They did pretty well for their first outings. But, inthe end, it was the bats that let them down tonight. They could only put down one hit (by Cady I might add) and put only one run across (also by Cady) but made some huge strides defensively.
Good job boys. Keep up the hard work. I promise it will pay off in the long run.
Thanks for your support and tune in next week on Oct 2nd for the game of the week when the Edmond Rangers play the Edmond Bulls in a clash of the titans. Don't miss this struggle between two teams trying to claim their own home turf.

ERSpN Sports Beat
It was a beautiful night for baseball in Edmond, OK. The Pioneers from Stillwater made the haul down I-35 to face the mighty Rangers of Edmond. The game started with a bang as Scott led off with a single. He wasted no time scoring the games first run as the Rangers took the early lead. High, who has struggled of late at the plate, was robbed of a hit. His well struck ball went flaming up the middle only to be stopped by the gut of the pitcher.
Adkins, who started on the mound for the Rangers, penalized the Pioneers for their too careful eye by striking out the side. He would record his fourth strikeout of the game in the second. Cady came in to relieve Adkins in the second inning as Adkins' pitch count grew a little higher than his coaches would like. Cady pitched magnificently for his first outing as he recorded the first strikeout of his young career on his first batter faced.
The bats were relatively quiet for the Rangers until the third inning. They put on a ferocious rally to close the gap to 9-7. The Pioneers just proved to be a little too much for Rangers. A promising step for the Rangers. Their margin of defeat has decreased with each passing game. The Rangers are due to chalk one up in the win column any day now.
Tune in next week when the Rangers face a double header against the Stillwater Eagles at 6:00 and 7:30 right here in beautiful Edmond, OK.
'Til next time...

ERSpN Sports Beat
Well, sports fans, there was another hotly contested game last night pitting the Edmond Rangers against the Pioneers from Stillwater. A light drizzle threatened to postpone the game but was unsuccessful in dampening the spirits of the athletes on the field. As ponchos and umbrellas deployed, the Rangers took the field led by Scott who got things going in the first. The Rangers played some pretty tough defense allowing only 4 runs in the first. Only 2 were allowed in the second as Cherry struck out the side in relief.
The third inning started with a bang when reliever Sharp fielded a quick comebacker and retired the first batter of the inning on the first pitch. It wasn't meant to be, though as the mighty Pioneers put together a few hits and plated 6 runs in the third. The Rangers pushed one last run across in the bottom of the third to make it a 12-5 loss. The bats just let them down, but they are showing some promise.
The next game for the Rangers is slated for Thursday at 7:30. Weber will take the mound to start. Tune in next time immediately following the game for highlights and analysis.
Notables:
Cherry showed his versatility by taking the mound in the 2nd and getting dirty behind the plate in the 3rd. Nice Job
Scott, Cherry, and Sharp had very nice showings on the mound
Fowler made a nice play on a pop fly for the 2nd week in a row
Sharp, Caldwell, Cady, Adams, High, and Matlock did a great job in the outfield allowing no extra base hits.
Matlock, as always -- good job behind the plate.
